Hello!

I’m Megan Cotton. I started A Touch of Cotton to slow the world down with hand drawn and hand stitched memories.

I discovered adding stitching to paper gave illustration a life of its own, and one that couldn’t be replicated (no prints here!).

Despite the art of stitching on paper being incredibly unforgiving, I love the contrast of stitching next to thick, textured paper with the sharp, timeless edge of black ink.

Whilst growing my family, I wanted to record the memories of our life story together, in maps of our adventures and portraits of our homes over the years.

Until one day my sister asked me to draw her special places in her new home of Canada. It was her unique story of discovering a new life and city in a far off country. And so I shared my maps and house portraits - first with family, then with friends, and then with the world.

They’re whimsical, they’re nostalgic - they tell a story. Your story.
